Sustainability is one of those popular buzz words floating around the internet, but when it comes to fashion it does have an important meaning. Personally, when I think of sustainable fashion, I think of clothing that is well-made and durable, products that will not harm the environment, and workers whose rights are respected and who are paid fairly. Take a brief moment to share in the comment section what comes to mind when you think of sustainable fashion.
What is Sustainable Fashion?
According to Melissa Nataadiningrat who is a patent inventor with over 25 years of experience in the fashion industry, “Sustainable fashion takes into account the entire supply chain and life cycle of a garment, from where and how it is made to when it ends up in our landfills. It is important for consumers to think about how their purchase affects the environment, the lifecycle of their garment, and how to invest in clothes that last longer” (Cotler).
Our Actions and Purchases Impact the Environment
I believe that we should be gentle on the environment, so when I was given an opportunity to partner with Caeresa from ShopGypsyFreedom.com I was excited. Shop Gypsy Freedom is a sustainable fashion online retailer. Recently, I had the honor of being a guest co-host for one of the sip and shops that Caeresa holds monthly on Instagram. Check out her instagram and follow her here: instagram.com/shopgypsyfreedom.
Purchasing clothing from Shop Gypsy Freedom has two advantages, you will find cool ways to style your purchases and you’ll have assurance that your purchase is making a difference ethically and socially.
“At Gypsy Freedom, we love style, we believe in fashion as an art form, and we are certain that these beautiful things can exist in a way that is ethical, sustainable, and people friendly”.source
Sustainable, Cute, and Carefree
Here are 4 different pieces that I purchased that are cute, comfortable, and sustainable.
The colors of the tank are soft and flirty. In the pictures I’m wearing a large, but I think a size medium would have fit well too. The top is soft to the touch and almost feels like you don’t even have it on.
“Love On” Bottoms – Sold Out
My husband thought these pants were a skirt at first. I love that they are long and have an inner lining. They are high-waisted and super lightweight and cool. It’s the perfect pair of pants for a summer day or a dinner date.
I love the color and fit of this jacket. The washed denim is soft and comfortable. This jacket makes a great addition on cool summer nights or cool days in the fall. The jacket also has plenty of functional pockets which come in handy for cellphones or
Carefree and totally comfortable, great for a walk on the beach.
