Why did you choose to homeschool?

Homeschooling picked me. It wasn’t on my radar at all.

From your perspective what is your favorite part of homeschooling?

My favorite part of homeschooling is the flexibility and learning alongside my children. Customizing their education to fit their needs.

Describe a homeschool challenge you’ve had to face.

Having a child with learning differences that the public school labeled as unteachable that I knew was smart I just need to be my child’s advocate.

What do you do on days that are the most challenging?

On my most challenging day, I adjust a traditional learning experience in an untraditional way.

Where / who do you turn to for homeschool support?

I have a great support group which involves my husband, parents and some friends.

As it relates to homeschooling what are you the most proud of?

I am so proud that my son is doing everything that the public school system said he would never be able to do.

Do you have a mission statement for your school? If so, please share it.

We don’t have a mission statement but we do have different motivational things like Don’t give up! Dare to be different! to name a few.

What’s the best homeschool advice you’ve ever received?

Never give up! Although you can research and find out a lot about homeschooling to help you along the way but remember homeschooling is unique and different for each family. If you are the educator you are enough! Don’t be afraid to dump any curriculum during the school if it isn’t working. Don’t apply PS rules to an HS routine.

Name 2 of your favorite homeschool resources that you use to supplement your learning resources.

Flashcards and Educational DVDs

What’s one lesson, tool, or approach you wish had learned before you begin homeschooling?

Manipulatives are the best. All age children like prizes. Reclaiming Childhood for older children.
