This week October 29 through November 2, every time you shop through Amazon’s Smile link you can give double the contribution and help St Jude patients. In fact, your purchase will support the children and families of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by 10 times the normal giving rate of .5%. This gift won’t cost you anything extra but will go further to make a lasting impression in the lives of children and their families who are fighting many devastating diagnoses.
Of course, most people are aware of the outstanding work that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital does for families with children fighting cancer. However, St. Jude is near and dear to my heart because of the research they conduct for Sickle Cell Disorders, which helps children, like my daughter, who are living with this unpredictable genetic blood disorder.
Facts about Sickle Cell Disease
Sickle Cell Anemia was first diagnosed in 1910 and was the first molecular disease recorded by doctors. According to an article found on the Nation Institute of Health’s website, “By the 1940s, the inheritance pattern and physical chemistry of hemoglobin S were well enough understood that renowned scientist Linus Pauling (1901-1994) could call sickle cell anemia ‘The first molecular disease.’ “(Drs. Steensma, Kyle, and Shampo).
Now, almost 109 years later we are much closer to finding a universal cure for those who are diagnosed. Researchers and doctors have all agreed that better treatments and solutions for organ failure, pain crisis, and long-term damage done by sickle cell are right on the horizon.

Your Purchases Can Help St Jude Patients
It takes about 2 million dollars a day to run St. Jude, so every dollar helps. When you give money to St. Jude you are helping families with children suffering from a variety of rare diseases. Moreover, your kindness provides families with renewed hope.
Here’s How it Works
This week (October 29 through Friday, November 2) load up your Amazon carts with all the holiday gifts on your list. Next, be sure to add St. Jude as your charity of choice through the Amazon Smile link and a percentage of your purchase will be matched and more than doubled for the hospital.
Remember, you can shop with AmazonSmile all year, but the only during this limited time will your donation be matched.
Log on to AmazonSmile and select St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as your charity of choice and AmazonSmile will donate 5% of the purchase price of the products they choose! The increased donation rate applies to eligible products on smile.amazon.com and nearly all products found on Amazon.com are eligible.
Thanks in advance!
