Right now, many of us are spending more time than usual sharing our space with family. Surprisingly, with my husband home, I have learned to appreciate the little things about him like how he likes to tinker with his car and that he prefers pancakes for breakfast over grits and eggs. Staying closer to home during these unprecendented times can be hard, but it doesn’t have to be.
Levi Lusko’s book (Take Back Your Life – A 40 Day Devotional Journey) is the perfect self-care resource to remind us to pause and get in tune with our history, prayer, and our personal experiences. What strikes me as interesting about the book is that it isn’t really a self-help guide it’s a interesting journey about life that puts familiar things like the Panama Canal into perspective.
The book is not really what I had anticipated, it’s much more interesting and more well-rounded. Each day is full of insight so when I read the pages I believe, I am receiving valuable insight. If you don’t have a lot of time, then reading the book daily will provide encouragement and motivation to keep going, which is certainly an advantage. The prayers and prompts are the perfect length to help a person feel like they are doing inner work at the same time.
