I received an advance copy of this book to facilitate my review, all opinions are my own.
Most parents want their kids to have lots of books that help them feel inspired. And books where their children can relate to the characters. Davina Hamilton’s book “Riley Can be Anything” is both inspirational and relatable. When I received the book, my daughters saw it on my nightstand and they each took it upon themselves to read it. I love when a book interest a kid so much and you don’t have to bribe them to read it.
When my daughter saw it she said, “Yay! A new book, I’m curious about what it says and it’s fairly short.”
Afterwards, she said, “I like the book because like Riley, I’m not sure what I want to grow up to be. Mom, are they going to make a sequel because I need some more ideas.”
About the Book: “Riley Can Be Anything”
“Riley Can Be Anything” shares the importance of family. In fact, the two main characters are cousins. Riley and his cousin Joe, could be any child and one of their family members. What’s great is that Joe, his cousin isn’t too busy with his own life to make time listen to his little cousins’ thoughts.
The story is written like a poem so the flowery language will keep children engaged and interested in learning what will happen next. I loved the storylines and the illustrations. The pictures are simple, but do a good job of conveying the dialog between Riley and Joe. Elena Reinoso illustrated the book beautifully. The book provides diversity that is great for children all over the world.
I loved “Riley Can Be Anything” so much that I will be making it one of the books that I’ll gift new parents. This book is one that should be in every child’s elementary school library.
