I love living in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) areas because there is always something to do. There are many family activities that parents can enjoy along with friends, a companion, or their kids. It’s been a few years since I attended the UniverSoul Circus, but I’ve always had a blast when I attended. This year attending opening night was no different.
My daughters and their friend danced, sang, clapped, and were thoroughly entertained by the circus act.
There are 4 creative aspects that distinguish the UniverSoul Circus from other similar shows.
- Every show celebrates the talents of diverse people around the globe. The circus troupe entertainers are from different continents such as Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and so forth.
- The show is extremely interactive. The show isn’t just about watching others, but every show takes on a new dimension because of the talent that lies within the audience and those who participate. For instance, this year kids from the show were chosen to participate in a dance contest. They all were talented and put on an incredible show for the audience.
- The circus gives back to the community. When the comes to town they often visit elementary schools in the area and perform for the students. I love that the circus gives back in this way because tricks and performing in class may not be valued skills. The class clown may not be the teacher’s pet but the circus shows that everyone even those with unique talents has a place.
- The UniverSoul circus troupe is still going strong. I’m sure you’ve heard that after 140 years the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey performed their last in May of 2017. Thankfully, the raw and rare talents of the circus is still being performed across the country. Many of the UniverSoul circus’ acts left me in awe.
The Universoul Circus 2017 will be in Baltimore, MD until June 18, 2017.
