When this school year started, I noticed several new snacks being sold in our local grocery store.  Healthy snacks are important to me because I want my kids to learn healthy eating habits. When I first heard about Harvest Snaps they sounded like a tasty alternative to potato chips. I have a weakness for a good bag of potato chips. Harvest Snaps seemed like a good way to fulfill my salty snack cravings and still be somewhat healthy. Harvest Snaps come in a variety tasty vegetable based flavors.

I must admit, I was a little hesitant to try them at first because I wasn’t sure if the vegetable taste would overpower the other flavors. To my pleasant surprise the flavors balance each other out well. Harvest Snaps mostly resemble the flavor of cheese puffs or the puffs given to babies as they graduate to eating table food. The Lentil Snaps and Snapea crisps were similar but I preferred the Lentil Snaps.

All of the bags of Harvest Snaps were delicious and they make a great non-perishable roadtrip-friendly snack option. Some of the flavorful choices like the Wasabi flavor were too spicy for my kids but my husband and I enjoyed them.

I like the Wasabi flavor the best. Really? Yes, the Wasabi is as hot and spicy as I thought it would be, it’s not like over-doing a bowl of wasabi on your favorite sushi roll.

My children liked Snapea Crisps over the Lentil Snaps. Some of their favorite Snapea Crisps are the lightly salted, black pepper, and the Caesar Green Pea Crisps. I should mention, they are young and don’t like their foods heavily seasoned so these were the mildest flavor that fit their taste buds. I really liked pairing the Harvest Snaps with fruits and veggies as an afternoon snack.
Harvest Snaps tasty baked treats #snacksWe only eat Harvest Snaps in moderation because they are still a processed food option with a high fat content. Because of this I wish the bags were resealable to make it more convenient to save some for later.

For example Snapea Crisps have:

  • 120 calories per ounce
  • 6 grams of fat
  • 80 mg of sodium
  • 15 grams of carbohydrate
