Meeting a trailblazer like Trinh Tran in person was an incredible experience. Trinh is down-to-earth, personable, and conscience about her mark in the world. Maybe Trinh Tran isn’t a name that you are familiar with, but it should be and after reading about her in the interview below I hope that she is someone you will come to admire just as much as I have.
Trinh Tran is the Down-to-Earth Executive Producer of Avengers Infinity War
Marvel movies are a huge deal. The Marvel series is perfect for a family night with popcorn and snacks, and can be enjoyed by the entire family. Because their movies provide a good mix of female and male characters that everyone can enjo. Not long ago, I had the privilege of being able to meet and interview Trinh Tran who is the executive producer Avengers Infinity War. She spoke to me and the other bloggers interviewing her like we were a bunch of old friends.
When Trinh talked about not growing up reading comics, I could relate because I was raised in a very strict home where everything I watched and read had to be approved by my mother.
Trinh was asked, “Were you into Marvel before?”
Trinh : You know, between us, I actually didn’t grow up reading Comics, you know, as some of my Colleagues did. Probably shouldn’t say that but I remember . . . when I walked into Marvel, there was about 20 people working there. Now we’ve grown to, you know, hundreds but I remember the first time my boss brought me into watch “Ironman” and I absolutely fell in love with the movie. I fell in love with the Character and I just knew — I knew that all, this is the company I want to be in business with. This is the type of movie I want to . . . work on. And so from then on, you know, I grew to love it so but yeah, I actually didn’t grow up in that world.
Trinh also shared with us that she started out wanting to make movies as a child.
How did you know that you wanted to get into film or was there a moment when you thought this is what I want to do.
Trinh : There wasn’t really one moment per se, but I knew I wanted to get into the Film Industry ever since I was little. Um, it was, uh, I just [liked] watching all the Movies and just loved everything that came out of it and I was like I want to be a part of that . . . then growing up, you know, being [a part of an Asian] culture, it was very different because . . . my Parents never understood what that meant like you want to be in the Film Industry? You’re Female, you know, which they understood as a very Male dominated Industry and you’re a woman of color so what does that mean? It was really just about pushing through all that and going [on] . . . I want to do what I’m passionate about and I’m gonna do my best.
Trinh Tran is personable so she adds emotions into films which makes the characters more relatable
What was the most satisfying Character pairing for you?
Trinh : When we worked on the story, we really tried to figure out which Character made sense with each other, right? We call that strange alchemy, putting Characters together that you normally wouldn’t see, uh, ever.
I also like how Avengers Infinity War is different, it’s not a typical movie where all “the good guys” win in the end. The producers added in the unpredictable and atypical, and in order to know what I’m referring to you’ll have to watch the movie. Avengers Infinity War will be available to purchase on Blu-ray August 14, 2018
Trinh also gave young women who aspire to follow in her footsteps some sage advice:
What would you say to young women who want to be you?
I would say a lot of things. I think first of all, I would say don’t worry. Just go on a journey and don’t worry about the outcome because ten years ago, never did I imagine that I would be right here producing two of the biggest Marvel Movies. I thought, Kevin was crazy at one point when he said, do you want to do it, do you want to spearhead this Movie? You want me to what? And I think also just embrace your difference. As I mentioned earlier, films are stronger when ideas are generated and questioned by different perspectives.
Who we are and the way we think, is really important and it matters. As a Female and as a minority, I think it’s so important that I embrace it. I’m learning that every day that it’s OK to be in a room, and sometimes, I am among all males who some of them have over 20 years of experience. I’m sitting there and sometimes I feel a little intimidated. Do I speak up? It is all about if you let your perspective shine. There’s a great story that can we can all agree will be great.
After interviewing Trinh Tran, we also had an opportunity to explore Madame Tussaud’s. We had an incredible time, just check out my pictures below.
