Did you know that Fences has grossed over $63 million? Personally, all I had to hear was that Denzel Washington was in the movie, then I knew that it was a must see. In fact, knowing that Denzel Washington plays the lead character gives movie patrons some assurance that the movie is going to be well done and inspiring. Washington seems to always deliver a soulful character to the big screen. Fences movie is and award winning movie and Viola Davis’ riveting performance won her a Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress award.

About the Movie
Fences Movie is deeply emotional. To understand the life and struggles of a black man and his family in America is not an easy task, but in many ways Troy’s character transcends race. It is the struggle of a working class man who has talents far beyond the work he is paid to complete. While not everyone will understand or appreciate the impact of fences. Not every will be as moved as I was when I felt their hurts or disappointments, rejoiced with their triumphs and cried when they shed tears. Fences movie is a narrative of a person who has been hurt by a larger system and in turns hurts others in his path. I believe, hurt people, hurt people so this movie reiterates this sentiment. There really isn’t much of a silver lining but is more about raw truth and generational set-backs.
Denzel Washington is masculine, strong, courageous, and cowardly throughout the movie. Viola Davis is soulful, trusting, full of pain, and perseverance. Washington is Troy Maxson. the main character in Fences. As a former baseball player who doesn’t get to play pro baseball he all bitterness to leave him ungrateful and disgruntled. The movie depicts his real familial struggle and his courageous wife who plays the embodiment of a strong black woman.
