The Zion National Park is a great travel destination for everyone. The beautiful scenery of this national park is perfect for solo adventures and family trips alike. You also have plenty of hiking trails and even more things to do, which means you can have a lot of fun whether you are visiting the park on a short or long trip.
To enjoy the best of Zion National Park, however, there are several important things you need to know. Here are the top tips and tricks you should keep in mind when planning a trip to Zion.
Prepare to Get Wet
The Zion National Park is home to The Narrows, an interesting natural structure with cliffs on both sides and the Virgin River flowing underneath. A hike through The Narrows is a must, but you do want to prepare to get wet as you explore this attraction.
There are spots where the Virgin River is only 20 feet wide. There are also spots where the water is as high as your thighs. Bring a dry bag and make sure you have your gadgets and electronics stored in it, so you can explore this phenomenal hiking trail fully.
Take a Drive
The Zion National Park is accessible by land from several other places in its vicinity. You can, for example, drive to the national park from Las Vegas. One thing I do recommend is renting a car for a drive to – and across – the Zion National Park.
There is a good reason for that: you will find one of the most spectacular stretches of road as you go deeper into the national park. I never thought driving a rental Honda Civic could be that much fun, and I’m sure you’ll experience the same thrill as you take the Zion Scenic Drive.
Alternatively, you can explore the scenic route on bicycles. Sleep well the night before and make sure you have the energy to conquer the route. Bicycle rentals are available on-site and there are guided tours to help you enjoy the route more.
Get Close
There is another interesting experience that often gets overlooked, and that is staying in a local hotel or motel. The best Zion hotels have a unique ambiance to them; you will feel right at home even on your first visit.
Thanks to the growing popularity of the national park, there are more accommodation options to choose from. The Bumbleberry Inn is a highly recommended Zion hotel if you want to have the best time while exploring Zion National Park. It even has its own theatre!
Try Bird Watching
The Zion National Park is also home to more than 300 species of birds. Make sure you pick up the official list of birds when you arrive at the park. You’ll have the chance to tick off the birds you come across while exploring the area. Even when you are not a bird-watching enthusiast, this is something that’s a lot of fun to try.
With these tips and tricks in mind, you can sample the best of Zion National Park. You will have plenty of memories to share – and even more photos to post on your social media accounts – at the end of the trip.
