Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens in United States theaters on December 20, 2019. I thought the saga was over a couple of years ago, but of course, I quickly learned that this money magnet would not be laid to rest. Now that a new generation is glued to the beloved characters in Star Wars saga, the movies will inevitably continue. Why kill a good thing? Disney sure isn’t, and I am anticipating every release that will follow. However, we do know that this will be the end of the original Skywalker Saga. I can’t wait to see how the new Star Wars movies will unfold.
Bitter Sweet Ending
Growing up, I developed a fondness for each of the characters and when several of the original characters passed away I genuinely mourned their loss. There are about 92 original Star Wars actors who are gone but not forgotten. The three most recent who passed away are:
- May 2,
2019 Peter Mayhew – Chewbacca - December 27,
2016 Carrie Fisher – Princess Leia - August 22,
2016 Michael Leader – Stormtrooper
Surprisingly, one of the cool additions to the new movies is that although, some of our most loved characters passed away like Carrie Fisher we still see a glimpse of them on screen. Technology is used to bridge clips from the past to the modern movies so we can continue to enjoy them.
Watch the trailer below and tell me what you think?
My initial thoughts about the 9th Star Wars movie is that the trailer is intense. The trailer doesn’t give us any big reveals, but it does
The big reveal happened in Chicago at the Star Wars Celebration
In attendance for the announcement about the final movie in the Skywalker saga was Director/Writer J.J. Abrams and Producer Kathleen Kennedy who were also joined by stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Oscar Isaac, Billy Dee Williams, Naomi Ackie, Joonas Suotamo and Anthony Daniels, and droids BB-8 and D-0, for a panel discussion at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago on April 12, 2019 and moderated by Stephen Colbert.
