This is HUGE! Inspired Mobility Changes Lives #NABJNAHJ16

NABJ and NAHJ Washington, DC Aug 3-Aug7

Did you know that with one device you can change the world? Something as small as a smartphone can amplify your influence so that it vibrates across the globe. One tweet can springboard and go viral. One YouTube video could make you into an internet celebrity, one meme can change how the world will view you forever. Stop, pick up your smartphone and acknowledge that you are holding a powerful device right in the palm of your hands. How will you use your influence to change the world?

AT&T Inspire MobilityWhat is Inspired Mobility?

“AT&T Inspired Mobility is a conversation about how people are using mobile technology to connect with their faith or inspiration. Inspiration is no longer just analog. People are picking up their mobile devices to connect with it, and it has never been more popular. Inspired Mobility is another way to see how people make our products and services a part of their lives so that everything works better. You can join in the conversation by sharing an inspirational thought, photo, meme or video and using the hashtag #InspiredMobility” (Source).

Inspired Mobility Redefines Community?

Inspired mobility is a way to breathe hope into the lives of others. I have always felt that what separates a person of faith from the rest of the population is that there is always hope that better is coming. Faith is knowing that storms, trials, joys, and times of plenty won’t always last; but even though bad and good come and go, peace, joy, and contentment can still be seen on our planet.

How has Inspired Mobility Impacted my life?

Inspired Mobility didn’t only impact my life, it changed my life. In 2010 I joined my church’s communication team. I had just become a new blogger and first-time twitter user. Prior to 2010, I wasn’t actively engaged on any social media platforms. However, when I started using technology to share my faith and build a community among my readers I learned more about myself and my personal passions. I also met new people who challenged me to think outside of my local sphere and dream bigger.

I began to tweet sermon notes on the church’s behalf. Sharing information about my church and quotable sayings helped me become more engaged in the minister’s sermons; in fact, I was no longer a pew warmer not receiving spiritual enlightenment. Now, I was an active participant and a liaison of the Word. Instead of my church services reaching only the 600 people who were physically present, I helped spread the gospel to thousands of more people. For the first time in my life, I felt like I was spreading the gospel and fulfilling the call. This was huge, inspiring, and motivating. I found this tweet I shared in 2014 about inspired mobility that still applies today:

I also use my platform to educate others about healthy living, healthy eating and Sickle Cell Disorder. By using social media to share information and inspiration about health related issues I have become an ambassador for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and I had the opportunity to speak about healthy meal choices at the National Institute of Health. I have also led a 30-day (#30forsicklecell) campaign to help educate people about sickle cell and help them understand how the genetic disorder is passed down from one generation to the next.  The feedback I get on Twitter and Instagram lets me know that Inspired Mobility can really affect and change lives. My blogging journey has given my life and dreams more direction. It feels good to use social media to inspire others to better manage their health through diet and education.
