Reading Programs Available to Homeschool Students

Reading Programs for homeschool students #educhat #learning #homeschool
We are a homeschooling family and from time-to-time, I come across some really great resources that are available for our homeschool students. Homeschool parents, take advantage of these reading programs quickly, because I am not sure how long their registration will stay open.

If you are looking for programs to help encourage your child to read and get excited about reading here are two programs that should peak your child/children’s interest:
 Six Flags Reading Program #educhat #learning #homeschool

Six Flags Reading Programs

* Incentive – Free Six Flags park admission tickets for students. Only one homeschool adult per house is eligible for a free ticket.

Once your child has logged 6 hours of reading time, the student will be eligible to receive Six Flags tickets in the spring.

“Read to Succeed is an exciting program that encourages students in grades K through 6 to read for fun. Students who complete six hours of recreational reading earn a free ticket to Six Flags! The program is available to teachers and schools at no cost to participate, and it’s a great way to motivate kids to read.”

For anyone who is interested in participating, Six Flags has opened its 2016 Read to Succeed registration! (Deadline for logging your student’s reading hours is: March 1, 2016 at 5pm CST)

Book It Reading Program #educhat #learning #homeschool

Book It Reading Programs

Incentive – Free personal pan pizzas for students.

As a kid, I loved this program. It really helped me stay excited about reading. I am excited to share this same program with my own kids.

 Here’s how the program works:

BOOK IT! runs every school year from October through March.  The teacher sets a reading goal for each child in the class.  A tracking chart and reproducibles are included to make it that much easier.  And, we now offer an online Teacher Dashboard and BOOK IT! app! As soon as a child meets the monthly reading goal, the teacher gives him or her a Reading Award Certificate.

On your child’s first visit to Pizza Hut, the award winner will receive their Personal Pan Pizza, and also an official BOOK IT!® Passport to Reading and sticker to track their reading throughout the six months. On subsequent visits, he or she will get another Personal Pan Pizza and sticker to add to his or her passport. View the passport here!

(***Unfortunately, registration is closed for the 2015-2016 school year. Please check the link again in May for the 2016-2017 school year.***)
