3 Small Changes that Make a Difference

by Matt Banks, www.freedigitalphotos.net

Inspired by spring and the new energy that it brings I have decided to make some changes in my life. First, I am shrinking my closet; second, I am leaving work related things out of my bed room; and finally, I am going to take better care of “me”. These changes are going to make a big difference in the months ahead. Here are the reasons why I am making these changes and suggesting that you consider switching as well.

Shrink your closet

1. Have you looked into your closet lately, only to realize that you have no idea what is in there? I am constantly encouraged to clean out my wardrobe and let my closet breathe a little. Closets can get so cluttered that they can cause a person to become stressed by their overwhelming appearance. Tonight, I am taking everything out, cleaning it out and getting rid of things that I am not sure if I will ever wear again. If I am not sure how to wear it or I have not worn it recently, it has to go, I should also include that if my husband hates to see me in it, I need to let it go as well. I am making a promise to myself that I will not buy any new clothes. This switch from loving to shop and buy new things has to stop, I will try to find new ways to reinvent the things that I already have.

Don’t work in the bedroom

2. I wondered why I wasn’t getting a good nights rest until it dawned on me that I often work on my laptop in bed. I fall asleep on my pillow without ever making the transition from work to a peaceful sleep. It is better to keep your work out of your bedroom so that your body will know when it is time to wind down and relax. My mind will no longer continue to solve the problems I encountered during the day. I will make a list and leave it in the office to be accomplished the next day.

Take care of yourself

3. Mothers are notorious for taking care of everyone else but themselves. Even I am guilty of this, I need to go to my doctor’s appointments regularly, spend time with my friends, and learn how to treat myself to something special once in a while.

So this spring, throw out the old habits that need to be forgotten and adopt new ones that will give you room to breath, encourage you to relax easier, and help you become the best “you” that you can be.
