Review: Potty Time With Bear (DVD)
Posted on January 29, 2012 | No CommentsIf you are looking for a good DVD to introduce or reiterate to your child how to use the potty and go to the bathroom “Potty Time With Bear” is an excellent DVD. The DVD doesn’t just focus on going to the potty, the DVD is very descriptive in the words they used. I really like how the bear explains as he talks, which is similar to how I try to teach my children at home. The bear is very positive and has a soothing voice. The characters are likable and fun to watch. The bear calls children that go... -
Potty Training Twins: My Simplified Advice
Posted on June 15, 2011 | 8 CommentsPotty training can be overwhelming, at least for me and my girls I thought this growth stage was one of the most challenging for me to live through. I have heard other parents horror stories and now that I look back, it wasn’t so bad. Here are some tips to help you potty train your twins and a singleton too. It is important to make sure that your child is showing signs that he or she is ready to learn how to use the toilet. You child will exemplify signs of being ready by doing the following: Can communicate with... -
Review: Safety First Comfy Cushy 3-in-1 Potty
Posted on August 31, 2010 | No CommentsThere are so many potties on the market it is really hard to decipher which one may be best for you and your child. In my house we currently have 4 different types of potties (e.g., Fisher-Price Stepstool Potty). I wanted to know which one worked best and I wanted to limit accidents around the house just in case my children were not able to make it to the bathroom. The Safety First Comfy Cushy 3-in-1 Potty is the potty that we have had the longest. -
Review: Fisher-Price Stepstool Potty
Posted on August 21, 2010 | 2 CommentsI purchased the Fisher-Price Pink Princess Stepstool Potty because I was told by a Mom with 5 children that it really works great. The potty plays music (4 tunes are available) when the child has made a deposit. After I purchased the potty, I was thinking about not using it and giving it to someone as a gift, but when my girls saw the potty box they insisted that I open it, and so I did. Here’s my thoughts. -
Review & Potty Training Update – I Think She’s Got it!
Posted on August 17, 2010 | 8 CommentsOne of my daughters is fully potty trained. It took about 2 to 3-weeks, but she has mastered it (during the daytime). My other daughter is almost trained, but she still goes in her pull-up at least once a day. There are two key lessons that I learned along the way. 1. Be consistent. I cannot reiterate the value of being persistent enough. Children love routine and need consistency. 2. Shout your praise! My daughter becomes so excited when we shout our happiness for her using the potty. Every time she is finished using her potty she smiles brightly and... -
Caboose: The Diaper Potty
Posted on August 12, 2010 | 2 CommentsThe Caboose is a travel potty that makes it easy to be consistent potty training your child where ever you go. This past week we have been on vacation and the caboose has accompanied us everywhere. It has eased my mind about my children going to the potty while we are not at home. It was also easy to take aboard the airplane and caused no problems when going through security. I am excited to share this review with you. -
Updates: Sleeping and Potty Training
Posted on July 29, 2010 | 3 CommentsI am happy to report that my girls are sleeping in their own rooms and in their own beds. Some nights we may get a tear or two, literally, which is rather funny. The last time I wrote about my children waking up in the wee ours of the morning and taking over Mommy and Daddy’s bed, they were about 18 months old. Now, they know the routine, and are usually too tired to put up much fuss. -
Today I Feel Worn Out, Potty Training Is No Joke!
Posted on July 22, 2010 | 5 CommentsOK, I stated that I wasn’t going to buy anymore diapers. Hopefully, I won’t be regretting my words because potty training is no joke. Today, I had to mop 3 times and scrub my rug. I already have a long list of things to do. In the midst of cleaning up after them I wondered and I just pushing them too hard? Nope, my children definitely are ready, but am I? Before my last post, I was looking for something that would light a fire under me so that I would be consistent and potty train my girls. Elle, takes... -
Can a Child be Potty Trained at 3 months?
Posted on July 21, 2010 | 7 CommentsRecently I took part in a discussion about American children being behind in terms of potty training. Apparently, there was a recent article/news story about children around the world being potty trained by 3 months. My face is generally very expressive before any words come out of my mouth, so my eyebrows lifted and my mouth formed a sarcastic smirk. “That’s really hard to believe,” I said. Thinking back to my 3 month old twins, they were so helpless I could not imagine them being able to go to the potty. Well I was informed, they wouldn’t crawl to the...
