This law has been known mostly as the Plastic Bag Fee law. If you make a retail purchase in the city and don’t have your own bag with you, you will pay .05 cents if you get a bag to carry your merchandise.” At first, this law was upsetting to a lot of people, but it is a small price to pay to help clean up our area. Especially, if we... -
My Green Mommy Tip: Full Loads Only Please
Posted on June 30, 2011 | No CommentsMy favorite green Mommy tip is only do laundry when you have full loads. The savings are immense. You save in the follow areas: 1. You save your personal time because there will be fewer loads washed. Washing several small loads can be physically draining. 2. Saves laundry detergent. (Keep in mind that the actual amount of laundry will vary if you have hard water). But using the recommended amount of detergent will get your clothes clean and keep your clothes from being ruined as quick. Additionally, by using liquid detergent you lessen the amount of residue left on... -

This swap wasn’t limited to just clothes, it included accessories like shoes, purses, belts, coats, jewelry, etc. The clothes were laid out on the floor. Similar items were placed together; for example, all of the long sleeve shirts, shoes, coats, skirts, etc were together. One person per... -

Manage Monday: Your Carbon Footprint and Ways to Reduce it
Posted on February 21, 2011 | No CommentsWhat is a carbon footprint? In recent years these words have surfaced, your carbon footprint is simply your personal impact on the environment and climate change in relation to the total amount of greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide) your activities are causing. It is great to be considerate of the environment, but even better when you can do so effortlessly. I have made little subtle changes in the way my family and I do things so that our carbon footprint would be less. Buy used toys. I once read that you shouldn’t by used toys, and I completely disagree. With a... -
Have You Checked Your Cabinets Lately?
Posted on December 10, 2010 | No CommentsI enjoy cleaning my house, in fact, I find cleaning therapeutic. However, when I was pregnant I noticed that a lot of my normal cleaning solutions were making me light headed and caused shortening of breath. At first, I thought I was extra sensitive because I was carrying twins, but then it dawned on me that I needed to check my cabinets and read the labels of the cleaning supplies I was using. Once checked many of the cleaning supplies that I learned to use as a child were toxic and harmful. I recently found the following video to be... -
