Time. How many of us could use more of it? If I had more time, there are many many things I can think of to help fill it. One thing that I would definitely do is spend more time with my hair. As a busy Mom, I don’t get to go the salon often. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I sat in a stylists chair. But just because my time doesn’t allow for a beautician doing my hair, it doesn’t mean that my hair should look messy. In fact, when trying to teach my daughters about life and how to be presentable it is very important for me to do my hair even when I am tired and may not feel up to it. One of the most important aspects of keeping my natural hair healthy is learning how to keep up moisture and prevent dry scalp. When I am having a stressful week where I feel overworked and I fail to eat healthy foods, I can immediately see the effects on my hair. Basically, stress and junk food cause me to have flaky hair. Thankfully, Head & Shoulders Moisture Care Collection helps get rid of flakes and gives my hair the nutrients it needs to look and feel healthy. There are 3 rules I follow to keep my natural hair healthy and growing.
3 Healthy Natural Hair Rules
1. Maintain Moisture
My top priority to my natural hair is to keep it strong and healthy by providing it with lots of moisture. In fact, it is to very important to learn how to keep your hair from becoming dry and brittle. Remember, dry and brittle hair breaks, which decreases your hairs overall length and health. “Textured” natural hair can be dried out because of too many hair products, clogged pores, poor diet, using the wrong shampoo and conditioner, and many other reasons too. Some shampoos may strip hair of natural hair oils if you aren’t careful. Therefore, it’s important to read the labels of your hair products to find out what the product’s purpose is. Thus, make sure your shampoo cleanses and promotes hydration of your hair shaft and moisture retention. I love that Head & Shoulders Moisture Care ingredients include vitamin E rich almond oil, coconut essence and dandruff-fighting ingredient zinc pyrithione (ZPT). Almond and coconut oils are great natural moisture retention ingredients. The co-wash (conditioner wash) is one of my favorite products because it’s great for days I may not have time to shampoo. Even without shampooing the hair it gently cleanses the hair and moisturizes.
2. Keep Hair Clean
While I don’t recommend washing your hair everyday, there was a time when I use to wash my locs every other day because of my job. Now, once a week is my goal. What I love about the Head & Shoulders Moisture Care 2 and 1 shampoo is that it is thick, smells like coconuts, will keep give you 100% flake-free hair. With some shampoos I can easily go through a bottle with one wash. However, Head & Shoulders Moisture Care 2 and 1 shampoo is so thick I don’t have to use as much to clean my hair which helps save me time and money. Once my hair was wet the 3 big globs of shampoo on my scalp helped clean the roots of my hair. Then it took about 3 more globs down each sectioned part to make sure the follicle to the tip of my hair was clean. My only gripe is that I wish it lathered better within my hair.
3. Be Your Own Stylist
Basically, I believe every women should have at least 3 quick and easy hairstyles she can do on her own. Many women have their go-to hairstyles like a pony tail, and I have my favorite easy on-the-go styles which can be viewed in the side-show above. They can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion and they all take less than 5 minutes to create. I used the scalp soother before I re-twisted my hair and it gave me a cool tantalizing sensation. The scalp soother includes peppermint oil and Vitamin E which helps provide moisture balance.
- Should be used in between washes to immediately provide a cooling feel
- Apply directly to the scalp by spraying 15 pumps at the roots
- Massage in with fingertips
- Can be applied to wet or dry hair
I definitely, plan to use these products with my weekly hair care regimen because they work great. I’m always grateful when I can find 2 or 3 products that work wonders and are also cost effective.
