6 Educational Free Fun IPAD Apps for Children

Children these days are tech savvy. They are born without an aversion to gadgets like some of us, and almost immediately know how to navigate their way around our tablets, ipads, iphones, smartphones, and computers better than us. With that said, why not use the gadgets to help our children learn and explore new lessons faster.

Here are some of my top free IPAD apps for Preschool-aged kids

Kid’s Spanish Lite App

Kid’s Spanish App

Recommended for ages 4+

This was the first app, I explored with my kids and so far I am impressed. The other day, I heard my daughter telling her sister all of her colors in Spanish. As I listened I was impressed by her pronunciation. This app is simple, but teaches the basics kids should know.

Wild Kratts

PBS KIDS Video for iPad

Recommended for ages 4+

This is an app to watch PBS videos. The quality is really good, and the programming is trustworthy and educational. My kids favorites are: Wild, Wild Kratts and Super Why! The downside to this app, is the episodes are not complete.

Lakeshore Phonics Tic-Tac-Toe Interactive Game

Lakeshore Phonics Tic-Tac-Toe Interactive Game

Free through December 30th.

This game is fun for kids under 8. My girls are 3 and are beginning readers so they enjoy this game. They are learning how to recognize how many syllables a word contains, and how to spell new words.

Letter of the Day Interactive Activities App

Letter of the Day Interactive Activities

Free through December 30th.

Recommended game age is 4-6, but this game teaches the basics of the alphabets so younger children can enjoy it as well.

I like that this game not only reiterates the sounds of each letter, but also gives kids their first lesson in alteration. During play time I can hear my kids recite the fun poems they have learned from the letter of day.

Beginning Sounds Interactive App

Beginning Sounds Interactive Game

Free through December 30th.

Recommended for ages 4-7. This game is one of my favorites because it helps children recognize the relationship between words with the same beginning sounds. It also teaches hand-eye coordination.

Animated Puzzle App

Animated Puzzle

Recommended for ages 4+

This game is great because it shows different animals from around the world. It teaches coordination and is great for any child  that loves puzzles. My kids are thrilled when they complete each puzzle and watch the animals dance across the screen.

SUPER WHY! for iPad

SUPER WHY! for iPad

Not FREE ($3.99), but I like the app

Recommended for ages 4+

My kids like words, so Super why is great because it teaches them new words and how to spell them. It uses their favorite characters and is from PBS kids, which produces trusted kids programs and activities for kids.
