Summertime Free Activities

Last week I stumbled across several free activities that you can do with your kids.

A.C. Moore

Every Wednesday from 3-5 they offer a free craft for children to do with their parents or guardians. The class is a lot of fun for children. Last wee we attended a class and my child made clay see creatures, which they love to show off to others. Click here to view the calendar for the class.

Whole Foods

Our Whole Foods offers a summer reading program for toddlers through high schoolers. The program is partnered with the local library and seeks to encourage kids to read during the summer months. If your Whole Foods doesn’t have a thrilling website you may have to call or visit your local store to find out what programs they are offering.

Local Library

Every county is going to have a different program, but if you google or contact your local branch who will be able to find out what is available in your area. On Mondays and Wednesdays our library has an hourlong/30 minute program of stories, songs, riddles, poems, games, etc at our library. Parents do have to stay and supervise their children.

Barnes & Noble also offers a free reading program.

Vacation Bible Schools

Many churches offer free activities for children. When I was younger I really enjoyed attending, they were similar to day camps. The activities were usually singing, crafting, reading, playing, eating etc.

Some Museums

There are some museums that are not free everyday. Instead they have some days that are free admission days. Some museums may not charge to for admission, but will charge for parking so you will need to check the museum beforehand to see what the details are. Free LA kid’s museums

Free Concerts

Check out local Universities to see what concerts they are having because they often have shows for free that children will enjoy. Search the internet for specific events in your area. Here are a few in NYCDenver, CO., DC & MD, and NC

Movies

Many companies are conscious of school being out during the summer and want you have your family to enjoy yourselves. Some movie theaters have free or low cost programs during the summer. NC Free and cheap movie deals.
